‘Cheap’ smartwatch: Samsung launches the new Galaxy Watch FE in Brazil

This Monday (1st), Samsung has launched its new most basic smartwatch in Brazil, the Galaxy Watch FE. It arrives as an entry-level option, but brings important monitoring sensors.

The smartwatch joins other devices in the “Fan Edition” lineup, such as the Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Buds FE, and Galaxy Tab S9 FE. But its price is a big draw, costing R$ 1.3 thousand. For comparison purposes, the Galaxy Watch 6 (40mm, Bluetooth) has a suggested price of R$2,500, but can be found in the same range of R$1,300 in retail.

The new Galaxy Watch FE features sensors like BioActive.

Available in black, pink and blue, the new Galaxy Watch FE has a similar look to the more robust models in the Galaxy Watch 6 line. This includes a rounded body, a strap that can be changed with just one click and a display with sapphire crystal as protection.

It comes with an aluminum body and two buttons on the side. The device is only available in 40mm size, with slightly larger bezels on the screen, which is 1.2″ in size. In addition, there is support for the always-on display feature.

Activity and health monitoring

According to Samsung, The Galaxy Watch FE can track over 100 fitness activities, including water sports — it has IP68 and 5ATM water certifications, in addition to MIL-STD-810H water resistance. Some of these, such as running, are automatically detected by the watch.

The new Galaxy Watch FE can now be found in Samsung stores.

It has a range of health monitoring features. The BioActive sensor allows you to track your sleep and provide relevant metrics to improve your rest, as well as alert you to very high or low heart rates and more, such as Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN). It can also monitor blood pressure and has an ECG.

Among other things, Samsung’s new, cheaper watch can locate your cell phone, make contactless payments (NFC) and detect falls, a feature that sends an emergency request.
