Instagram has started testing an artificial intelligence-based chat tool with some content creators in the US. The feature, called “AI Studio”, allows influencers to “chat” with their followers, answering questions with a natural approach, but in a fully automated way.

In this testing phase, users will be able to find a “Send Message” button on some influencer profiles. When clicked, the chat window will open with clear information that this is an AI-powered chat.

There are the inscriptions “AI” at the beginning and “Beta” at the end of the influencer’s name. Additionally, there is a warning that says “AI-generated messages. Some may be inaccurate or inappropriate.” This makes us believe that only adults will be able to test the feature before it is ready to launch globally.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, announced the tool today (27), sharing some images of the tests. He said that the functionality will be useful in bringing followers and influencers together, who will be able to have a productive and fun communication channel. Small businesses will also be able to use the tool for a first approach with customers.

Later, Instagram may allow the creation of AI-based animated avatars, which will not necessarily have an appearance inspired by the creators.

Chatting with AI could become a trend

Outside of social networks, people are already seeking the company of artificial intelligence chatbots.

About a year ago, a man whose identity has not been revealed said he had fallen in love with a robot from the Replika app. The intention was to have just a “companion assistant”, but when he realized it, he was already too attached to the tool.

In parallel, the sex robot industry produces humanoids equipped with a “brain” based on artificial intelligence. These devices are covered with a silicone skin that imitates the texture of human skin. Due to advances in software, they can be reprogrammed to take on different personalities.
