Samsung updated its line of smart watches this Thursday (13). The company made the official announcement of Galaxy Watch FE, a more basic option that is part of the “Fan Edition” line. Just like the main line models, the new one brings features focused on health and physical exercise monitoring.

The design of the Galaxy Watch FE follows the same line as the Galaxy Watch 6. The body of the device is rounded and has just two buttons, with a 40 mm aluminum case. It is available in a version compatible with Bluetooth and another compatible with LTE networks.

For the new Watch SE, Samsung offers black, rose gold and silver colors. He brings the 5 ATM and IP68 water and dust resistance certifications, making it also compatible with water sports tracking. There is also MIL-STD-810G certification against pressure, vibration, shocks and more.

The screen on Samsung’s new watch features Super AMOLED technology and has a unique size of 1.2″ (396 x 396 pixels) — including slightly larger edges. Here, there is the always-on screen feature and sapphire glass for protection. With the reveal of the new model, Samsung’s current range of watches now includes the Galaxy Watch 6, Watch 6 Classic and Watch FE, divided into high-end, premium and entry-level options, respectively.

Galaxy Watch FE is not so “basic”

The new Galaxy Watch FE is a more basic option to the Watch 6 line models, but it also brings important features. It has the Exynos W920 chip, while the more expensive models have the W930. However, the new watch features Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi (a/b/g/n) and NFC for payments.

It also comes with Wear OS under the One UI 5 Watch interface, which offers more complete features. The device also features the BioActive Sensor, which includes heart rate (optical), electrocardiogram (ECG), accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, geomagnetic and light sensors.

The company mentions that the Galaxy Watch FE is compatible with heart monitoring features, such as irregular rhythm detection, and sleep. It can also track more than 100 physical activities.

Other features of the watch include Find My Phone, to locate your cell phone, camera control and the new bracelet that can be removed with one click. On the other hand, its battery is a little smaller, with 247 mAh of capacity.

How much does the Galaxy Watch FE cost?

According to Samsung, the new Galaxy Watch FE will go on sale on June 24th in the United States. The price of the Bluetooth version of the watch is US$199 (around R$1,000), while the LTE model costs US$249 (around R$1,300) — the second model will start selling later.
