-->Grab, Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing super app, has started allowing users to top up their wallets with cryptocurrencies in Singapore through its partnership with payments company Triple-A. Grab is a super app with which you can order rides, food or tickets for concerts and other events. It can be described as an Asian Uber XL.

Grab accepts bitcoin and crypto

The GrabPay Wallet now allows users to pay with cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin, ether and stablecoins including XSGD, USDC and USDT, local newspaper The Straits Times reported.

“This new feature provides users with additional flexibility and convenience as it allows them to convert their digital assets, such as stablecoins, into usable funds in their GrabPay wallet,” a Grab spokesperson said in a statement shared with The Block.

“By expanding its top-up capabilities with digital payment tokens, Grab offers users a seamless and efficient way to access the company’s wide range of services.” While Grab has built a strong presence in Southeast Asia, its crypto payment options are currently only available in Singapore, and it “will continue to monitor user adoption and respond to demand for such services,” the spokesperson said.

Web3

Grab has also started integrating web3 services with non-fungible token wallets. In June last year, it signed up to be part of a pilot study with the Monetary Authority of Singapore on the use of three digital assets, including central bank digital currencies, tokenized bank deposits and stablecoins.
