Asia’s Web3 ecosystem is poised to get a big boost as the Aptos Foundation has announced a partnership with tech giant Alibaba’s cloud arm to launch Alcove, the first co-branded Move developer community in Asia Pacific .

This development has seen Aptos’ native cryptocurrency, $APT, see a healthy uptick. At the time of writing, Aptos (APT) price has risen by 2.96% to $7.0148 and a market cap of $3.14 billion.

Alcove – The step to support Move developers

Through Alcove, the Aptos Foundation and Alibaba Cloud would create an environment where developers can thrive, innovate and drive the next wave of digital transformation.

Alcove’s goal will be to increase the impact and adoption of the Move smart contracts programming language among experienced developers. The Move programming language offers security, scalability, and speed, making it an ideal choice for mass adoption in the Asia Pacific region.

Japan will be the first region in the Asia Pacific to benefit from this Aptos collaboration. Japan’s blockchain and crypto-friendly regulatory environment makes it an ideal choice to drive Web3 and digital asset innovations on a global level. Commenting on the development, Bashar Lazaar, Head of Grants and Ecosystem at Aptos Foundation, said:

“By working with the Alibaba Cloud team and leveraging their technology, we aim to create a vibrant environment for Japan’s growing interest in Web3 and IP strengths to flourish. As a foundation working to expand Aptos’ ecosystem globally, we aim to create the best user experiences for the next generation of developers, in Japan, APAC, and beyond.”

Undertaking various Alcove initiatives

To accelerate on-chain development, Aptos Foundation is launching a series of Alcove initiatives, starting with a Move developer summit co-hosted by OKCoin Japan and Alibaba Cloud. This event aims to empower developers by equipping them with the tools and knowledge to develop real-world cases and demonstrate the tangible benefits of Web3 and digital assets in Japan.

Leveraging Alibaba Cloud technology, Aptos Foundation will also organize a series of hackathons for the Alcove community. These events are designed to nurture emerging Web3 talent, giving participants the opportunity to learn from industry leaders and inspire the next generation of Web3 developers and innovators.

Last week, Arthur Hayes, CEO of BitMEX, made a bold prediction of his own, stating that Aptos could overtake Solana in the future. Current developments also suggest that Aptos is taking important steps to realize this prediction.
