Faced with the upheavals of recent years, 40 players have decided to join forces to strengthen the security of cryptocurrencies and blockchains.

Vivendi and around forty other players, including Binance, have created a French professional association specializing in web security 3. There are even public players, including a branch of the Ministry of the Interior. Initiated by Sébastien Martin and his cybersecurity company RAID Square, this alliance was called LSW3 (League for Security in the Web3). It aspires to “build best practices and educational content likely to establish standards” for security in cryptocurrencies.

If some members of this alliance come from the crypto ecosystem, we can question the presence of Vivendi. Part of the answer may be found in the fact that the sector has an image to improve, particularly since the upheavals of 2022 and 2023. The ecosystem now wants to prove itself to regulators, in order to have the necessary authorizations to launch financial products and grow even bigger. There are expectations of seriousness and communication to be done.

The goal of this league is to provide a message about security and to act as a “sheriff”. One of its first projects will be to write a primer on scams, because there are still some: phishing, hacking, wallet draining, rug pull… The primer will also look at how to react in the event of attacks.
